Model keeps faith while following dream Knoxville News Sentinel "I was like a crazy woman,BabyAge Coupons " Farrakhan said about finding out she got the coveted modeling job. "I was elated. I called my parents. Then I started getting myself prepared to go on tour". The Ebony Fashion Fair gig is major for the Chicago native. Prior to the show, Farrakhan appeared on the Black Entertainment Television program "Rip the Runway, " which follows models as they audition for the network's annual fashion bash. She also appeared in rapper Jay-Z's "I WILL NOT LOSE" campaign for the popular hip-hop clothing line ROC-A-WEAR. "It was terrible, " she remembered. "All of my family came to that show. We practiced so much. When I heard all of the music and all of the noise, that's when the butterflies hit. I bummed it up. It was bad. I missed a step, which could have thrown off the routine. I felt myself slipping on a shoe. But you know what, it humbles you. No matter how much you think you know it, something can happen. " Another issue that can happen at the Ebony Fashion Fair is that a model will have to don a revealing outfit or two. A devout Muslim, Farrakhan handles the situation with grace. "There are people who are willing to do anything or wear anything, " she said, "but that's not me. If I don't feel comfortable in something, I will say so. Whatever is meant for me will be. Hopefully my doing the this can show women you can be beautiful, reach your dreams, and stay true to yourself. " What if it was a job for Victoria's Secret? "I'll do the clothes, " Farrakhan said. "I'll do the accessories; but I won't do the lingerie. You could be rich and famous at the end of the day, but what do you stand for? " The assumptions of what people think the Farrakhan name and the Muslim faith represent have made signing with a major agency difficult for her. "It has hindered me, " she said. "Agencies have not wanted to pick me up because of the name. It's ignorance of the Islamic religion. They probably say, 'She's thinks she holier than thou. She has to be this and that. ' "Sure I'm related to this leader, but at the same time I want to see me as down-to-earth. No matter the background, I want to prove you can model with dignity, style and class. "
